COVID-19: Government Level 4 COVID-19 information

The New Zealand Government has provided further COVID-19 Level 4 restrictions advice on the afternoon of Friday 27 March, that domestic travel is only permitted for essential workers relating to the response function for COVID-19. More information regarding this is available here.

Connecting from a domestic to an international flight will not be permitted after 11:59 pm Friday 27 March.

Click here to watch Doug Grant, Senior Manager Customer Care and Communications, discuss Air New Zealand's advice for customers over the next 24 hours.

If you are holding a domestic ticket for travel within the next 48 hours, and you no longer wish to fly, please click here to release your seat and we will put your fare into credit.
This will help to free up seats to help get other Kiwis home.

We are wanting to ensure that our phone lines and social media channels are best placed to assist customers urgently needing to travel as such, if you are contacting us regarding holding your booking in credit or applying for a refund, please contact us after 31 March 2020. It will not matter if your travel is before this, we will be able to assist at a later date.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we work through this challenging and difficult time.

Many countries are frequently updating border restrictions as the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation develops. Click here for the latest information regarding travel restrictions and entry requirements.

Effective immediately, we are suspending all international travel for unaccompanied minors until 30 June 2020, except for those who have already commenced travel and need to return to their primary caregivers or guardians. Please ensure that remaining travel complies with any government restrictions.

Onboard Social Distancing

The New Zealand Government has announced the COVID-19 Alert System and we are supporting this guidance through the implementation of social distancing. As a result, customers may notice we have changed their choice of seat to allow additional space around them.

If travelling on our regional ATR or Q300 aircraft, we are aiming to allocate window seats first with no-one seated in the adjacent seat. Onboard our domestic jet aircraft, we will endeavour for middle seats remain unoccupied.

Wherever possible, we will continue to seat families, and customers travelling in the same booking, together.

We thank you for your understanding and patience during this challenging time.
